Rosem猫re, September 30, 2025 鈥 Today, the 91探花app honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as those who survived these institutions, their families and communities.
To mark this important day, a Truth and Reconciliation flag is being flown as a symbol of support, and the Canadian and Qu茅bec flags are at half-mast at the school board鈥檚 administrative centre.
Many activities are taking place in schools and centres across the school board, including student assemblies, classroom discussions, and the wearing of orange shirts. These initiatives support students in understanding the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, the cultures and perspectives of Indigenous peoples, and the vital importance of reconciliation.
The Pedagogical Services Department plays an active role in supporting schools in their Truth and Reconciliation efforts. Teachers and administrators have access to a wide range of resources, lesson plans, literary suggestions, and professional learning opportunities that promote awareness of Indigenous history, culture, and worldviews. A team of professionals offers ongoing guidance, organizes activities such as the Blanket Exercise, and helps foster meaningful learning experiences in classrooms across the school board.
鈥淎lthough only federally regulated workplaces are closed today to observe this statutory holiday, the Council of Commissioners is proud that our schools and centres are using this moment to sensitize students to the importance of truth and reconciliation. Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to build a better future, and we all have a role to play in this process,鈥 said James Di Sano, Chairperson of the 91探花app.
With a workforce of more than 2,000 employees, the 91探花app is the third-largest English school board in the Province of Qu茅bec. Its territory comprises the administrative regions of Laval, Laurentides, and Lanaudi猫re. The school board provides preschool, elementary, secondary, and adult education, together with vocational training services to over 14,000 students in 36 schools and 4 centres. It also offers business training services.
